Why We Tested Every Garment Option

Why We Tested Every Garment Option

A great design deserves more than an ordinary T-shirt beneath it.

Before a garment becomes part of the Orivaro range, it has to prove that it can deliver the quality, comfort and durability we expect. That means examining different fabric weights, fits, cotton types, constructions and printing methods, not simply choosing the cheapest option and placing our artwork on it.

Because a T-shirt should still feel worth wearing long after the first photograph has been taken.

More Than a Fabric Sample

You can learn plenty from specifications, but they cannot tell you everything.

A garment might sound impressive on paper and still lose its shape, feel uncomfortable or become disappointing after repeated washing. That is why our testing extends beyond looking at fabric samples and comparing numbers.

We have tested numerous T-shirt styles, fabric weights and cotton constructions, including ring-spun and other yarn types. We look at how each garment feels when new, how it fits and drapes, how well it carries a print and, most importantly what happens after it has been worn properly.

Real quality only reveals itself over time.

Tested Through Real Life

Our principal test T-shirt has not been carefully preserved for display. It has been worn hard for more than a year.

It has been through:

  • Mountain biking
  • Weight training
  • Hiking
  • Shopping and everyday wear
  • Physical work
  • Heat, movement and plenty of sweat
  • Repeated washing

After all of that, it still looks fresh.

The print remains bold, strong and complete, without sections disappearing from the artwork. The garment has not become badly twisted or misshapen, and it still feels like a T-shirt worth reaching for.

That tells us far more than a product description ever could.

Why We Choose DTG Printing

Orivaro garments use direct-to-garment printing, commonly known as DTG.

DTG applies ink directly into the fibres of the garment. This makes it particularly effective for detailed artwork, intricate textures and rich colour, exactly the kind of designs Orivaro creates.

We chose DTG because it allows the artwork and garment to feel more naturally connected. It avoids the large, heavy transfer-like patch that some alternative printing methods can create, particularly across bigger designs.

When produced and cared for correctly, DTG can provide:

  • Strong colour and fine detail
  • A softer, more natural feel
  • No thick sheet sitting across the garment
  • Greater comfort across large printed areas
  • A print capable of ageing with the T-shirt

DTF printing can be useful for certain products and applications, but it does not provide the finish we want for Orivaro’s main garments. Our priority is artwork that feels like part of the clothing, not something simply attached to its surface.

Weight Matters - but It Is Not Everything

Fabric weight plays an important part in how a T-shirt feels and behaves.

A heavier fabric can create greater structure and presence, while a lighter fabric may offer more movement and breathability. However, GSM alone does not guarantee quality.

We also consider:

  • The quality and construction of the cotton
  • How the neckline retains its shape
  • The strength and finish of the stitching
  • How the fabric drapes on the body
  • Whether the side seams begin to twist
  • How the garment responds to washing
  • How comfortably it works with printed artwork

Every part contributes to the finished garment.

That is also why Orivaro offers different garment grades. Each has its own weight, feel and silhouette, but all must meet the same fundamental expectation: they must be good enough to carry the Orivaro name.

Clothing Should Carry Memories

We do not want our T-shirts to feel disposable.

Clothing becomes connected to real moments: journeys, friendships, difficult days, achievements, ordinary afternoons and experiences you did not realise would become important until later.

A great T-shirt gradually becomes part of your story.

That only happens when the garment lasts long enough to travel with you. When the shape holds, the artwork remains strong and you still want to wear it beyond the first year.

Orivaro creates clothing for people who keep going. The garments carrying that message should be capable of doing the same.

That is why we test them.
